Fu Bao Born at Everland Resort

On July 20, 2016, a female giant panda cub was born at Everland Resort in Yongin, South Korea, marking the first giant panda birth in the country. The cub, later named Fu Bao (福宝), meaning "lucky treasure," was born to parents Ai Bao and Le Bao who had arrived from China in 2016 as part of a conservation partnership. Fu Bao's birth was the result of natural mating between her parents, a significant achievement for the zoo's panda program. The cub weighed approximately 197 grams at birth and displayed healthy vital signs from the beginning. Her birth generated tremendous excitement in South Korea, with extensive media coverage and public interest in her development. The successful birth represented an important milestone in international panda conservation cooperation between China and South Korea. Fu Bao's arrival also provided valuable data for research on panda reproduction and cub development in a new geographic and climatic environment.
