Ga Ga (加加) and De De (得得), the first giant pandas ever born in Hong Kong, celebrate their second birthday at Ocean Park Hong Kong on August 15, 2026. Born on August 15, 2024, the twins were the first panda births in the city's history.
Ocean Park announced it will celebrate the birthday live at the park on August 15, with an online livestream beginning at 9:45 AM on Ocean Park's Instagram and Facebook pages, so that godparents (契爸契妈) who cannot attend in person can still send birthday wishes.
The park's "Summer Panda Birthday Party" (玩转夏日大熊猫生日大派对) runs from June 26 to August 31, celebrating all six pandas together. A five-meter-tall "panda birthday peach mountain" (大熊猫寿桃山) at the main entrance features all six pandas and has become a must-visit photo spot. The park also offers a birthday cake photo spot, a panda life exhibition, and a trail lined with more than 60 panda sculptures. Special installations mark the area near the Aqua City lagoon and the seaside souvenir plaza.
This year's party adds a "fan support exchange zone" where fans can trade homemade banners and merchandise, alongside water-play activities including a "water balloon battle" and a "panda birthday water-splash" music party, plus a Panda Friends zone for visitors of all ages.
The celebration has also moved onto Hong Kong's streets: since August 4, four bamboo-green themed tramcars have been touring the island with no fixed schedule. The tram featuring Ga Ga and De De is the most eye-catching — handmade by Hong Kong artisans with an optical-illusion design that makes the twins appear to climb onto the vehicle, carrying the slogan "2岁生日！我哋'加'倍'得'意！". Other trams carry greetings for Ying Ying and Le Le, and An An and Ke Ke, plus a combined tram featuring all six pandas. The trams run until August 31, followed by panda-themed buses and a birthday roadshow with a pop-up store opening first at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay.
