De De (Chinese: 得得), affectionately called “Xi Lao” (细佬 / Little Brother) in Cantonese, is a male giant panda born on August 15, 2024, at Ocean Park Hong Kong. He and his twin sister Ga Ga are the first giant pandas ever born in Hong Kong.
De De was born at 3:27 AM on August 15, 2024, 81 minutes after his sister Ga Ga, weighing 112 grams at birth. He grew steadily under the care of his mother Ying Ying and Ocean Park’s veterinary team.
By May 2025, at approximately 9 months old, De De weighed over 21 kg. He had begun imitating his mother’s bamboo-eating motions, gnawing on bamboo leaves though still relying primarily on breast milk and formula.
Described by keepers as outgoing and playful, De De loves interacting with his keepers and wrestling with his mother Ying Ying. His active, curious nature makes him a natural performer in the exhibit.
