Today marked a historic milestone at Beauval Zoo as Yuan Meng, the first giant panda ever born in France, celebrated his first birthday. The occasion was commemorated with special festivities attended by zoo staff, conservation partners, and select guests. The birthday celebration featured a specially designed "cake" made from Yuan Meng's favorite foods, including bamboo shoots, apples, and specially formulated panda biscuits. The young panda showed particular interest in the decorative bamboo arrangements, demonstrating his growing confidence and curiosity. Veterinary examinations conducted in conjunction with the birthday celebration confirmed Yuan Meng's excellent health and development. At one year old, he weighs 45 kilograms and shows all the signs of a healthy, developing panda cub. His cognitive and motor skills are progressing appropriately for his age, and he continues to develop strong bonds with his caretakers. The birthday celebration also served as an opportunity to highlight the success of the France-China panda conservation partnership. Representatives from both countries emphasized the importance of international cooperation in endangered species conservation and celebrated Yuan Meng as a symbol of this collaborative effort.
