Zheng Zheng (争争, studbook #259) was the first giant panda in the world to be successfully hand-reared by humans. Born on September 14, 1983 at Beijing Zoo, he was raised entirely by keepers after his mother Yuan Yuan died just 8 days after his birth. He lived for 13 months before passing away on October 9, 1984.
