Mei Qian (美茜, studbook #631) is a female giant panda born August 10, 2006 at Wolong. Daughter of Xi Xi (茜茜). Described as solitary, competitive, and stern-faced. She survived the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake and was temporarily housed at Yunnan Wildlife Park. In 2021, she gave birth to a 249g cub — the heaviest captive panda newborn on record at the time. Her son Ru Yi (如意) traveled to Moscow Zoo in 2019. She also appeared in multiple film and TV productions.
