Yang Yang (Chinese name: 洋洋), studbook #461, also known as Jiu Jiu (九九), is a male giant panda born on September 9, 1997 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. In 1999, he and female Lun Lun were sent to Zoo Atlanta in the United States under a Sino-US cooperative breeding program, becoming Atlanta's beloved "panda couple." Over 25 years, Yang Yang fathered seven cubs with Lun Lun, including Mei Lan (father of the famous He Hua). After 25 years abroad, he returned to China on October 13, 2024.
