Short version
Ai Lin (艾琳) is a female giant panda born July 13, 2022 at the Chengdu Research Base. Daughter of Ai Li and sister of Ai Si, she is a "tree-hanging expert" — she loves climbing to the highest branches and often stays there until dark. She forms the "Ai Chao Ai Nao" quartet with Ai Si, Chao Chao, and Nao Nao at Panda Villa No. 2.
Ai Lin (Chinese: 艾琳) is a female giant panda born on July 13, 2022 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Her mother is Ai Li (艾莉) and her brother is Ai Si (艾斯).
She was named in December 2022 as part of the base’s “Class of 2022.”
Ai Lin is famous among keepers and fans as a “挂树高手” (tree-hanging expert) . She spends much of her time high in the trees, often choosing to sleep on the highest branches. She has been known to stay in the trees until after dark, long after other cubs have come down.
She climbs with a distinctive “caterpillar-like” (毛毛虫式) wriggling motion that has become her trademark.
Ai Lin lives in Panda Villa No. 2 at the Chengdu Base alongside her brother Ai Si, Chao Chao (吵吵), and Nao Nao (闹闹). The four cubs are collectively known as the “Ai Chao Ai Nao” (艾吵艾闹) group — a playful name combining their names meaning “love noise and commotion.”
Ai Lin often shares a tree with her brother Ai Si: she takes the high branches while he sleeps on the lower ones.
