Short version
Hui Bao (辉宝), born July 7, 2023 at Everland Resort in South Korea, is the younger twin of Rui Bao (睿宝) and the third cub of Ai Bao (爱宝) and Le Bao (乐宝). Named through a public vote with over 500,000 participants, she and her twin were the first naturally conceived panda twins born in Korea. She debuted to the public on January 4, 2024, and began independent life in August 2025.
Hui Bao (Chinese: 辉宝, meaning “Shining Treasure”) is a female giant panda born on July 7, 2023, at Everland Resort in Yongin, South Korea. She holds the global studbook number 1314.
She is the third cub of Ai Bao (爱宝/华妮, studbook 879) and Le Bao (乐宝/园欣, studbook 841). Her older sister is Fu Bao (福宝) (born 2020), and her twin older sister is Rui Bao (睿宝). Hui Bao and Rui Bao are the first naturally conceived twin giant pandas born in South Korea.
On October 12, 2023, Everland held a special 100-day naming ceremony. The names “Rui Bao” (睿宝) and “Hui Bao” (辉宝) were chosen through a public online contest with over 500,000 participants from China and South Korea. “Hui Bao” (辉宝) means “Shining Treasure,” symbolizing radiance and hope.
On January 4, 2024, Hui Bao made her official public debut at Everland’s panda house, alongside her twin sister Rui Bao.
Everland held a traditional Korean “Zhua Zhou” (抓周) ceremony for the twins. Hui Bao famously grabbed a microphone — symbolizing future popularity and influence.
The twins celebrated their second birthday with Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing in attendance. Keepers noted this would be their last birthday with their mother Ai Bao.
On August 13, 2025, after three weeks of independence training, Hui Bao and Rui Bao officially separated from their mother Ai Bao and began living independently in an expanded second enclosure.

culture
In 2016, Ai Bao and Le Bao arrived at Everland in South Korea as diplomatic gifts. In 2020, they produced Fu Bao — the first panda born in Korea — and ignited a cultural phenomenon that transformed Korean panda keeping into a national obsession. This article traces how Everland's media strategy, the emotional bond between keeper Kang Cheol-won and Fu Bao, and the Korean public's embrace of 'panda parenting' created the most intense panda fandom outside China.
