Basic Profile

Po (Chinese: 阿宝), studbook number 810, is a female giant panda born on November 3, 2010 at Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother is Lun Lun (伦伦, studbook 452) and her father is Yang Yang (洋洋, studbook 461). She was named after the protagonist of the movie Kung Fu Panda.

Like her older brother Mei Lan, Po was initially misidentified as male by keepers before being correctly identified as female after her return to China.

Life Journey

Early Years at Atlanta

Po spent her early years at Zoo Atlanta alongside her parents and siblings. She was the third surviving cub born to Lun Lun and Yang Yang, following Mei Lan (2006) and Xi Lan (2008).

Return to China

On October 13, 2024, Po returned to China aboard a FedEx charter flight along with her mother Lun Lun, father Yang Yang, and twin sisters Ya Lun and Xi Lun. The repatriation ended Zoo Atlanta’s 25-year panda program. Upon arrival, Po was housed at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
