Journey to Hainan

In November 2018, Shun Shun and his companion Gong Gong (贡贡, studbook 890) were transferred to Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park, becoming the first giant pandas to settle in Hainan Province. Their arrival marked a significant milestone for panda conservation awareness in tropical southern China.

Life at Hainan

Shun Shun lives at Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park alongside Gong Gong, where the pair share a purpose-built panda enclosure with climate control to accommodate Hainan’s tropical climate. His companion Gong Gong won the 2020 Global Panda Award for “China’s Most Beloved Panda” (Gold).
