Short version
You You (优悠) is a female giant panda born September 21, 2021 at the Wolong Shenshuping Base. Daughter of Xiu Qiu and Qing Qing, she earned the nickname "Little Mud Ball" as a cub — her mother kept moving her around, covering her in dirt. Adopted by UBTech Robotics in 2022, she later became known as the "QQ Candy Girl" for her unique build on the TV show "Growing Up! Panda 2025."
You You (Chinese: 优悠), is a female giant panda born on September 21, 2021 at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) Wolong Shenshuping Base. Her mother is Xiu Qiu (绣球) and her father is Qing Qing (青青).
As a cub, You You earned the affectionate nickname “Little Mud Ball” (小泥球) because of her mother Xiu Qiu’s parenting style. Xiu Qiu was an attentive but active mother who frequently picked up her cub and moved her to different locations within the enclosure. Each time You You was deposited in a new spot, she would pick up dirt and mud on her fur. The constant relocation left her perpetually grubby, and keepers began calling her “Little Mud Ball” — a name that stuck long after she learned to keep herself clean.
In 2025, You You was featured in the documentary series “Growing Up! Panda 2025” (成长吧!大熊猫2025), one of 22 pandas highlighted in the program. Her distinctive rounded physique and playful demeanor caught viewers’ attention, and she was affectionately dubbed “QQ Candy Girl” (QQ糖少女) — comparing her soft, bouncy appearance to the popular chewy candy.
On March 31, 2022, You You was lifelong adopted by UBTech Robotics (优必选科技). The adoption connected her name with the company’s panda-themed robot that served as a吉祥物 at the Dubai Expo 2020 China Pavilion — both sharing the name “You You.”
You You was closely bonded with another young panda named Jiao Yang (骄阳) during her early years at Shenshuping, and the two were described as inseparable before eventually being separated as they grew older.
