Before Berlin
In February 2013, Jiao Qing was loaned to Shenzhen Safari Park. He returned to Chengdu in April 2017.

On June 24, 2017, Jiao Qing and Meng Meng departed for Berlin Zoo, beginning a 15-year Sino-German cooperation.
Fatherhood
Jiao Qing became a father in 2019 when Meng Meng gave birth to twin sons Meng Xiang and Meng Yuan. In 2024, he fathered a second pair of twins, Meng Hao and Meng Tian.
Berlin Life
For his 12th birthday on July 15, 2022, Berlin Zoo organized a unique celebration — 12 German tenors sang “Happy Birthday” to him. Jiao Qing, however, was more interested in his bamboo, continuing to eat throughout the serenade.
