Pan Qing

Basic Profile

Pan Qing (Chinese: 盼青, studbook number 1024) is a female giant panda born on August 4, 2016 at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas. She is the daughter of Xi Dou (喜豆, studbook 1056) and the twin sister of Hong Xi (鸿禧).

Record-Breaking Birth

Pan Qing and her twin brother Hong Xi were the heaviest newborn twin pair in CCRCGP history at the time. The first-born cub (Hong Xi) weighed 181.7 grams, while Pan Qing weighed an impressive 220 grams — outstanding birth weights that made headlines. This was also mother Xi Dou’s first litter.

Nicknames

Pan Qing’s distinctive appearance earned her several fan-given nicknames:

• “Flaming Red Lips” (烈焰红唇) — for her bright red lip-like markings
• “Gym Barbie” (金刚芭比) — for her round face and strong build
• “Dou Mei” (豆妹) — shared with her brother Hong Xi (“Dou Ge”), referencing their mother Xi Dou’s legacy

Motherhood

First Litter: Qing Hua and Qing Lu (2021)

On August 6, 2021, Pan Qing gave birth to twin daughters:

• Qing Hua (青花) — nicknamed “Dou Jia” (豆荚)
• Qing Lu (青露) — nicknamed “Dou Miao” (豆苗)

Together, the twin sisters are known as the “Hua Lu Shui” (花露水) pair. They were transferred to Chongqing Yongchuan Leheledu Animal Theme Park on December 30, 2023.

Second Litter: Mei Pan and Long Pan (2024)

On June 29, 2024, Pan Qing gave birth again — another set of twin daughters, making her one of the most successful breeding females at the center:

• Mei Pan (美盼)
• Long Pan (龙盼)

This birth was the first giant panda twin birth of 2024 at the CCRCGP headquarters.

Pan Qing inherited her mother Xi Dou’s iconic pouty mouth and round face (嘟嘟嘴和圆圆脸). She is a strong, healthy female known for her distinctive facial features that make her instantly recognizable among panda fans.
