Qin Xin is a female giant panda born on 2018-06-16 at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. She remains alive as of the latest official census of captive giant pandas. She is the offspring of Ba Xi, studbook number 700, and You You, studbook number 821. Both of her parents are captive-bred giant pandas housed at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, with verified pedigree records held by the center’s studbook management team. Currently living at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan Province, she participates in the center’s captive breeding and conservation research program for giant pandas. This program focuses on maintaining genetic diversity of the captive giant panda population and supporting future reintroduction efforts for the species. Qin Xin displays typical foraging and resting behaviors common to giant pandas, spending around 10 to 12 hours daily feeding on bamboo. She is one of many captive giant pandas that help educate the public about giant panda conservation, and contributes to scientific research that supports long-term protection of wild giant panda habitats in China.
