Xing Xing (Chinese: 星星, “Star”), is a male giant panda born on June 10, 2021 at Chongqing Zoo. His mother is Mang Zai (莽仔) and his father is Jin Ke (津柯, studbook 743) — the same father as the famous Mang Cancan. His twin brother is Chen Chen (辰辰) .

The brothers’ names together form “星辰” (Xing Chen — Stars) , inspired by the phrase “我们的征途是星辰大海” (Our journey is the sea of stars) — a popular Chinese expression honoring the country’s space exploration achievements.

Appearance

Xing Xing has distinctive bird-shaped black eye patches, pointed ears, and a high nose bridge. He is described as calm, gentle, and憨厚 (honest and good-natured).

Adoption

On March 19, 2024, Xing Xing was lifelong adopted by Meizhou Dongpo Group (眉州东坡集团) , a well-known restaurant chain. His brother Chen Chen was adopted by another enterprise. The brothers’ birthday cakes often feature space-themed decorations.
