Short version
Yu Ke (渝可, studbook #1335) is a male giant panda born July 22, 2022 at Chongqing Zoo, weighing 132 grams. Son of Er Shun (the Canada panda) and twin brother of Yu Ai, he is known as the "Mama's Boy Bear" — the clingy, gentle giant who loves to pounce on his keepers. He became Chongqing's Water Conservation Ambassador and "Belt and Road" Skills Competition Ambassador. His videos have been viewed over 80 billion times.
Yu Ke (Chinese: 渝可, nicknamed Mama’s Boy Bear/妈宝熊), studbook number 1335, is a male giant panda born on July 22, 2022 at Chongqing Zoo, weighing 132 grams at birth. His mother is Er Shun (二顺, studbook 883) — the female who lived at Toronto and Calgary zoos from 2013 to 2022 — and his twin sister is Yu Ai (渝爱, studbook 1285).
His half-siblings include Jia Pan Pan (加盼盼) and Jia Yue Yue (加悦悦), born at Toronto Zoo in 2015.
Named through a public contest with nearly 600 entries, “渝可” (Yu Ke) and “渝爱” (Yu Ai) were chosen by online vote. On August 3, 2023, both twins were lifelong adopted by Midea Group (美的集团).
Yu Ke is famously clingy. He is deeply attached to his keepers — so much so that he has been known to launch himself at them from across the enclosure, seemingly unaware that he now weighs significantly more than when he started this habit. He follows keepers around, seeks physical contact constantly, and has earned the nickname “Mama’s Boy Bear” from fans.
His relationship with his sister Yu Ai is equally notable: they play together, share bamboo, and have been observed hiding treats for each other.
In 2024, Yu Ke and Yu Ai were jointly appointed as:
Their combined image appears on city landmarks, in animated shorts, and in “Chongdong Market” merchandise. Videos featuring the twin pair have accumulated over 80 billion views across Chinese platforms.
In May 2025, Yu Ke developed an ear condition causing frequent scratching, which was successfully treated. In August 2025, during an extreme heat wave in Chongqing, he suffered heat stress and was temporarily moved indoors. He recovered fully.
