Yu Lei (Chinese: 玉垒), studbook number 1115, is a male giant panda born on September 14, 2017 at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) Wolong Shenshuping Base. His mother is Cui Cui (翠翠).
His name comes from Yulei Mountain (玉垒山), referenced in Du Fu’s famous poem: “锦江春色来天地,玉垒浮云变古今.” He was selected as one of Dujiangyan City’s four mascot pandas in 2018.
